Come Hunt with us.
Shane Dougan’s Coral Sea Safaris in New Caledonia & New Zealand is Trophy Hunting at it's finest.
We specializes in free-range large Javan Rusa Deer.
The Javan Rusa Deer is internationally recognized as one of the best deer hunts in the world today.
The number of wild and free deer is estimated at about 150,000 animals.
With my local English speaking guide, who is an all-round bushman, we have secured some of the very best properties for our hunting safaris, with many potential gold medal Javan Rusa Stags.
Hunting with New Caledonia & NZ Trophy Hunting is a very pleasant experience, within a tropical environment. A Coral reef surrounds the island forming a lagoon with a central mountain range rising to 1630m, running north-south along its length. The west coast is the Domain of cattle ranches and our hunting ground for Javan Rusa Deer.
The average temperature varies between 65 and 85 degrees F. As this is a tropical island, lightweight clothing is required, but the nights can get a little cool, so a sweater or two for comfort is required.
There are no snakes, crocodiles or poisonous spiders in New Caledonia.
Tontouta Airport, where you will be picked up, is a pleasant scenic drive of approximately 45 minutes to where you will be staying in Bungalow style accommodation.
The hotel/motel offers a wide variety of seafood dishes in their restaurant, and their quality is known throughout the island.
Come Hunt with us.
Early morning starts are required to ambush the Deer as they return to the forest after feeding on the open flats at night. As the day warms up we take a position on large hilltops to glass areas, which may locate a rutting Stag.
After having lunch, we reposition ourselves and wait for the Deer to return to the open flats prior to dark. It is quite normal to hear many Stags roaring from our vantage position, and quite possible to see hundreds of Deer at one time.
The deer are processed locally and nothing is wasted.
